The hydraulic motor is an actuator of the hydraulic system, which converts the liquid pressure energy provided by the hydraulic pump into the mechanical energy (torque and speed) of its output shaft. Liquid is the medium for transmitting force and motion.
Hydraulic motors, also known as oil motors, are mainly used in injection molding machinery, ships, hoists, engineering machinery, construction machinery, coal mining machinery, mining machinery, metallurgical machinery, ship machinery, petrochemical industry, port machinery, etc.

High-speed motor gear motors have the advantages of small size, light weight, simple structure, good processability, insensitivity to oil pollution, impact resistance and small inertia. Disadvantages include large torque pulsation, low efficiency, small starting torque (only 60%-70% of the rated torque) and poor low-speed stability.
From the perspective of energy conversion, hydraulic pumps and hydraulic motors are reversible hydraulic components. Inputting working fluid into any hydraulic pump can turn it into a hydraulic motor working condition; conversely, when the main shaft of the hydraulic motor is driven to rotate by an external torque, it can also turn into a hydraulic pump working condition. Because they have the same basic structural elements-a closed volume that can change periodically and a corresponding oil distribution mechanism. However, due to the different working conditions of hydraulic motors and hydraulic pumps, their performance requirements are also different, so there are still many differences between the same type of hydraulic motors and hydraulic pumps. First, the hydraulic motor should be able to rotate forward and reverse, so its internal structure is required to be symmetrical; the speed range of the hydraulic motor needs to be large enough, especially its minimum stable speed has certain requirements. Therefore, it usually uses rolling bearings or hydrostatic sliding bearings; secondly, since the hydraulic motor works under the condition of input pressure oil, it does not need to have self-priming ability, but requires a certain initial sealing to provide the necessary starting torque. Due to these differences, the hydraulic motor and hydraulic pump are similar in structure, but cannot work reversibly.
